(She/Her)
Heather Parker joined TMS in 2015 after 10 years of classroom experience teaching math and science at a boarding school, science at a school for homeless children, and as a TA in special education. Heather also taught Professional Development classes for adults that included study skills, computer skills, and resume writing at a vocational school.
But Heather's passion has always been Biology. Heather received her Bachelor's degree from UC Santa Cruz in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, where she graduated magna cum laude, followed by her Master’s in Molecular Biology from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. She also completed an internship at The Buck Institute, where she worked in a genetics lab on progeria-model mice!
Heather also has a deep love or horses, and runs a therapeutic horseback riding program for children with special needs called Hooves for Harmony. She has been running this program since she founded it in 2004.
In the past, Heather was a horse trainer and still has horses. She loves the outdoors and spends lots of time with her husband, two sons, and two rescue dogs in nature. Her favorite things are trail riding, the beach, kayaking, and camping.
