Stephanie launched her new career as a mathematics teacher after practicing civil engineering for
20 years. To gain teaching experience, she volunteered in high school mathematics classes and
joined EnCorps, a program which assists STEM professionals transform into teachers. In spring
of 2019, she received her mathematics teaching credential from Alliant International University.
While earning her credential, she received the Cheryl Saban Self-Worth Scholarship, reflecting
her commitment to gender equality and empowerment of women and girls in STEM education.
Stephanie taught as an Instructional Assistant in a Resource Classroom at San Rafael High
School, and she taught Geometry at Sir Francis Drake High School. Both high schools provided
her the opportunity to interact with a diverse range of students, including English language
learners, students with knowledge gaps, and students with disabilities and special needs. Prior to
teaching, she worked for the Marin County Public Works Department, private engineering
consulting firms, and the Federal Government.
Stephanie enjoys spending time outdoors, cooking, reading, playing guitar, and attending
concerts and theater productions.
