Cosplay Alert!

TMS Junior "Crash" (aka Kimberly D.) is a HUUUUGE fan of cosplay - creating props and costumes from some of her favorite fictional works. In FabLab, she has been working diligently on Jack Frost's staff form the movie "Rise of the Guardians". After designing a real world version based on imagery from the movie, she combined PVC pipe, EVA foam strips, liquid plastic and special paint effects to a make a really nice replica prop! Crash completed the rest of the costume at home, then put it all together for a special photo shoot in the snowy forests around Lake Tahoe during a recent ski trip. The result was a pretty dead-on recreation of the original character. Cosplay WIN! Great job Crash!!

Recordings Arts: Live Sessions

Last Friday, TMS Recording Arts students had an in-house session with the jazz band, doing a live recording of the songs featured at last week's winter performance. Under the guidance of Director Jimmy Sage, students put separate microphones on each instrument (some instruments required multiple microphones!) and ran each of these to a separate channel in our ProTools software. Set up took about 2 hours, then checking each input took about another hour. Finally, playing the six songs multiple takes took another couple of hours. It was a long day, but they recorded some great music! The jazz band and recording arts students will record the second half of their album this Spring! Here we have

MLK Discussion

A scene from yesterday's all-school discussion in honor of MLK day. Some of the questions we tackled together: What do you think Dr. King's biggest concern would be today? Do any of you feel that Dr. King's work has had a direct impact on your life? What do we as adults hope for the future, with regards to our students becoming adults? It was an amazing discussion, and we were blown away by the input from our students.

Robots and Brobots

Congratulations to The Marin School sophomores Harrison Powers and Nick Maley! This weekend, they participated with Marin Robotics in the Vex Robotics Tournament against 80 teams! They worked really hard on the bot over the last 6 months, and according to eyewitness reports, learned quite a lot and had a great time! Way to go you guys! #STEAM #STEM #brobots

TMS' Alumni Reunion

At TMS, not many of our traditions are what you'd call....traditional. Take our alumni reunion for example: why wait ten years? Why only celebrate with just your graduating class, when they weren't the only people who had an impact on your life! Each year during the Winter Break, we invite ALL our alumni back to campus to celebrate, reminisce, and catch up! Click here to read more about this year's reunion!
