National Testing Day at The Marin School
In an effort to build familiarity and confidence with standardized testing, TMS will be providing testing options for 9th, 10th, and 11th grades on National Testing Day in the Fall Semester. The PSAT8/9 is a specific test for younger students that exposes 9th graders to standardized testing formats at a grade appropriate content level. Sophomores and Juniors will take the PSAT but only juniors' test scores will be reviewed for National Merit Scholarship qualifications. TMS does not give many standardized tests and we believe that starting practice at the beginning of high school is beneficial to all of our students. Our goal is to provide a safe, no risks introduction to testing that sets students up for success on future SAT/ACT college placement exams. Test accommodations are available and TMS will work with families to have these requests reviewed by College Board prior to test day. The national testing day for the PSAT is October 10, 2018. Senior students will be encouraged to use this day (10/10) as a college visit day.
