We are committed to maintaining socio-economic diversity in our community by helping families afford a TMS education.
Over 30% of our students receive some amount of need-based aid. We know that every family's financial situation is unique and we take care to consider every application carefully.
The best way to fully experience life at TMS is to spend a day in our shoes! Prospective students will visit classes with a student ambassador, meet current students and faculty, and tour our campus.
Open House attendance and Student Shadow days are an essential part of our Admissions process.
The Marin School is one of many Bay Area schools using a web-based application called Ravenna Admit for the submission of online applications.

The Marin School Admissions Policy
Admissions and Financial Aid Policy
The Marin School abides by the Bay Area Admissions Directors (BAAD) Principles of Good Practice.
Observe common dates for the filing of applications, the mailing of decision letters, the receipt of enrollment responses, the filing of financial aid applications, and the notification of financial aid decisions.
Use and accept common teacher and counselor recommendation forms and the transcript release and confidentiality form.
Not fund students beyond their demonstrated need (using the guidelines of the School and Student Service for Financial Aid or other independent school financial aid service.)
Hold admission-sponsored recruiting events for applicants and/or their families before the January priority filing application date. With the exception of campus visits and interviews, we agree to avoid hosting admission-sponsored recruiting events after the January priority filing date.
Refrain from recruitment mailing (including emailing) after February 1. Examples of mailings include, but are not limited to, the advertising and direct invitation to school events, such as performances or athletic competitions.
Observe “Quiet Week,” meaning that schools will not initiate contact with families or hold recruiting events–apart from revisits for admitted students–between the decision mailing date and the enrollment contract deadline. This is intended to provide students and their families undisturbed space and time to make their decision.
Not provide or send gifts (such as T-shirts, mugs, or gift certificates) to accepted students before they enroll in the school.
Not initiate calls or meetings with applicants from our faculty and staffs and any person affiliated with the school community, except during a student’s visit to campus. Inquiries about specific programs from applicants or their families, other than during the student visit, will be answered appropriately.
Encourage the substitution of individual high school evenings at middle schools for regional high school fairs.
Foster open communication between schools when a student currently enrolled in one independent high school chooses to apply to another independent high school.
