Position:               Admissions and Special Events Coordinator

Reports to:           Director of Admissions and Marketing

Position Status:    Full-Time, Non-Exempt, 10 Months

 

Summary

The Marin School, an independent college-preparatory high school in San Rafael, California, seeks an Admissions and Development Coordinator.

 

The Marin School currently serves 100 students in grades 9-12 with a goal of growing enrollment to 125 students. We honor each student's unique learning style and act in accordance with a deep belief in the potential of each and every student. Our motto is "Small School. Big Impact." Class size at the school is small by design, typically 7-10 students, to allow teachers to fully understand their students and give teachers the ability to personalize their instruction with experiential learning, innovative lessons and non-traditional, yet effective, learning opportunities.

Position Purpose: 

The Admissions and Special Events Coordinator is an essential member of The Marin School team. This role supports the Admissions Office in all areas related to student recruitment and enrollment, as well as  major school and community events throughout the year. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

Admissions

  • Provide general office support

  • Schedule appointments, tours, interviews, etc.

  • Maintain accurate and complete admissions database

  • Assist with admissions events (both on and off campus)

  • Process applications, create and manage applicant files, ensuring deadlines are met, and all necessary materials are received in a timely manner

  • Assist with the re-enrollment process

  • Assist with generating statistical admissions reports

  • Manage the student visit program, greet student visitors, provide tours

  • Manage the student ambassador program

  • Share school news and events via various social media platforms

  • Assist with preparation of multimedia outreach projects

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions

 

Special Events

  • Provide general support for major events and activities, such as tracking RSVPs, generating guest lists, participating in setup and clean-up, and attending events

  • Assist with school-wide events such as Back-to-School Nights, Major Donor events, Grandparents’/Grandfriends’ Days, fundraisers, Winter and Spring Arts festivals, and graduations.

  • Assist with post-event follow up as needed - generate thank you letters, provide attendance statistics, share event photos, etc.

  • Work with committees, volunteers, and other professional support staff

 

The optimal candidate will possess superior attention to detail, facile and enthusiastic use of technology and social media platforms, powerful organizational skills, superior communication skills, and strong self-motivation. The optimal candidate must be equally comfortable brainstorming ideas and executing them. A proven track record of working collaboratively and cooperatively as a member of a professional team, while maintaining a positive attitude, will be beneficial to a candidate.

 

Required Skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite, G Suite, database management, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel a plus

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Flexibility to attend after-school events and periodic weekend and evening activities

  • Bachelor's degree

  • A valid and clear California driver's license and the ability to drive self and/or students to school visits and fairs away from campus

 

Job Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience working at a school or with high school students a plus.

  • Experience working at an independent school a plus.
