The Yosemite trip will start before we actually leave campus:
We’ll have two readings on the Geology and Human History of the Yosemite area complete with 10 study questions for each section.
We will meet and discuss the readings during two lunch periods. To attend this trip, the readings and the written responses must be done.
This will be the start of your ‘Yosemite Journal’ in which you will also document your Yosemite visit.
We’ll drive to Yosemite Valley and set up camp and enjoy a fine dinner under the stars.
For the next three full days you'll have the option to ski or do selected hikes in the valley. Please note that all students will be expected to do at least one day of cross country skiing, (for which there is a $17 charge to be paid by the student for the rental equipment and trail pass), and one day of natural history observation/photo essay in the Yosemite Journal. Students will also have the option to do one day (and one day only) of downhill skiing at Badger Pass. Please note that students wishing to do this will need to rent their equipment at the ski hill and pay for their own lift pass ($30).
Since we’ll be camping, it’s very important that you have a decent sleeping bag since it could be freezing at night. If you’re looking to connect with Yosemite, this is your trip. (Limited to the first10 students that sign up)
PS- If weather prevents us from going at the last minute, we’ll do a ‘Bay Area at your feet’ week of special attractions of the San Francisco area.
