Many famous movies have been made here in the Bay area, from the classics of Alfred Hitchcock like Vertigo and The Birds to special effects blockbusters like Star Wars and the Terminator series. 

Pixar Studio has revolutionized animation with films like the Toy Story trilogy and Cars, while companies like Youtube and Netflix have revolutionized how people watch films. This intersession will involve watching great films made in the Bay Area, then visiting the locations and studios where those films were made, and talking with filmmakers about how they made them. 

We will learn about big budget and low budget films, action thrillers and comedies, documentaries and animation – the whole world of Bay Area cinema that is famous around the whole world. We’ll even learn about locally made films you may never have heard of. For example, did you know that there’s a Chinese film called Sausalito, shot in San Francisco and right here in Sausalito?
