What would be one piece of advice to a student entering TMS for the first time?

Relax; it’s so easy to fit in at TMS. The faculty really listens to you and responds to you. There is such a diversity of students and if you take the time you’ll find something about each student that you really like.

Is there one experience at TMS that had an impact on your life after TMS?

One of the most important experiences I had at TMS was learning how to trust other people. Once I opened up and got to know the other students and teachers I felt I was part of something – a real community. My teachers really listened and responded to me, they were all on my side.

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of TMS?

Overall, it’s just the great experience I had at the school. My teachers inspired and encouraged my drawing – they gave me room to experiment. There were breaks in the school day to get together with other students just to casually go over class lessons, do homework together, and discuss just about anything. It was a very friendly, relaxed environment.

What have you been doing since you graduated from TMS?

I’m currently in my second year at Rhode Island School of Design. My favorite class is wood block printing where I’m able to create multi layer visual concepts and explore pattern and design. Ultimately I would love to start a print shop or get work helping others experiment with printmaking.
