Welcome to the admission section of the TMS website! I hope you have taken some time to click through these pages and that what you’ve seen will lead you to take the next step and set up a time to visit us in person.
While no website can take the place of an on-site experience, we want to especially encourage you to check out the Student Portfolios under the Academics section. There you’ll see The Marin School education come to life. Spend some time exploring what our students have created and you will have a good start on understanding the benefits of a TMS education.
There is great pleasure in introducing potential students to a place where we can say with confidence they will love and be loved by their teachers; where school is designed to meet their specific needs and interests as young adults; where humor and fun are as present during class time as at lunch time. To share with potential families all I see happening here and the ways in which TMS’s educational approach and content inspires and engages students and faculty alike is a joy and an honor. As the ambassadors for The Marin School we spread the word about a truly unique place, with exceptional teachers, teaching in rooms with no back rows, to students who are learning daily about their passions and how they see their place in the world.
Author Suzanne Goldsmith writes in her book A City Year that “Communities are not built of friends or of groups of people with similar styles and tastes, or even of people who like and understand each other. Instead, they are built of people who feel they are part of something that is bigger than themselves; a shared goal or enterprise, like righting a wrong, or building a road, or raising children, or living honorably, or worshipping a god. To build community requires only the ability to see value in others; to look at them and see a potential partner in one's enterprise.”
Despite being a new-comers to TMS, we have seen and experienced this kind of community here, this dedication to something “bigger than ourselves” that is the education of young adults. We would be thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce you to the TMS community and all we do here. Please be in touch.
