Suzanne Alpert

Director of Development

My first job after college was as a classroom teacher at the American School of The Hague in the Netherlands, where I taught middle and high school along with coaching swimming. Our championship meet was in Cairo! When I returned to the US, I moved straight to the Bay Area and I haven’t lived anywhere else since.

Throughout the last twenty years I have been lucky enough to teach science at Santa Catalina School, Marin Academy, Lick Wilmerding, and Ring Mountain Day School. I spent many summers in San Francisco working at Aim High, a summer program for middle school students from diverse backgrounds. Aim High is an amazing, life-changing program for students and teachers. Each summer we saw that access to extremely high-quality education can change students’ lives.

My undergraduate degree is from Bowdoin College in Biology and Environmental Studies, and I have a M.A. from Stanford University in Educational Policy Analysis and Evaluation. I had a wonderful experience as a Klingenstein Fellow at Columbia University’s Summer Institute.

Ten years ago my husband and I moved to Marin where we live with our two young daughters and our golden retriever puppy.  We spend a lot of time outside-- hiking with our dog, cheering for our kids at their soccer games and swim meets, and at Stinson Beach. After four years as the Development Director at my last school, I am thrilled to join the Marin School as the new Director of Development.
