College Counselor
I was raised in eastern Pennsylvania and earned my bachelors degree in government from Wheaton College in Massachusetts. My college experience was an amazing adventure - I loved being a student and during my four years I learned to think critically and read and write analytically. I seized leadership opportunities, made lifelong friendships and discovered a new skill or two.
I spent two semesters at Dartmouth College as an exchange student, successfully submitted grants for a non-profit organization and wrote my honors thesis on the Equal Rights Amendment. While the rest of my life has been wonderful too, those college years were important in shaping me into the person I am today and no doubt played a part in my desire to help students find colleges where they can have great experiences too.
After graduation from college, I worked in health care financial management, returning to get my Master in Business Administration from Golden Gate University. When it came time for a career change, I returned to school again, this time to UC Berkeley for a certificate program in College and Career Advising. I have worked as an independent college advisor, a Writing Coach for College Summit, a mentor for 10,000 Degrees (formerly The Marin Education Fund), and as a College Advisor in public charter schools. I love what I do, particularly because I love answering questions!
In addition to working with students, I enjoy hiking the trails of Marin with my friends and my dog, being in the mountains, reading fiction, downhill skiing, cooking (especially baking), knitting and spending time with my husband and two grown children.
