I grew up in the Pacific Northwest in a family who built their own beach houses and boats. My father once told me, when I was an impressionable child, that if I could read, I could do anything… I believed him until I attempted Inorganic Chemistry. That particular information never got past my eyes, and made absolutely no sense.

Fortunately, I did not give up on reading and I plunged into literature ending up with a B.A. in English and American History and a Teaching Credential from Dominican University, a Library Media Credential and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University.

I chose a teaching career because I think we all are teachers for one another, and I decided to formalize the vocation.

I am inspired by people who are passionate about their pursuits and who attempt to do good in this world. They are a consolation to me.

The guiding principle of considering the individual’s talents and learning style as essential to education was music to my ears, and drew me to TMS. I feel like what I do and my interaction with students makes a difference at TMS, and every day is different.

My continuing goal is to expand the media literacy skills at TMS.

I fill my dance card with art classes, rowing, landscaping, cooking and READiNG… trying to live the idea that every day is a gift.
