Marianne Owens

Photography, Art Department Chair

I earned my BA in Radio, Television and Film with a minor in advertising from San Jose State University and a Computer Graphics Diploma from Platt College, San Francisco.

I began my art teaching career thirteen years ago with DrawBridge, a non-profit agency that provides enriching art experiences to youth who are homeless or living in shelters. Drawbridge gave me extensive experience in introducing art to young people and the art of the children to the larger community by exhibiting their work.

Throughout my career, I have continually studied photography and plan to get an MFA in photography. I enjoy exhibiting the work of my students, as well as exhibiting my own art in juried shows throughout California. During my 11 years at TMS, I have had the pleasure of facilitating a number of photography events, including a show at the MYC in San Rafael, a student booth at the Caledonia Street Fair in Sausalito, the County Fair, and my yearly whale watching excursion to the Farrallon Islands every October.
